Figma's mobile update: review the draft on your own phone

Figma's September 30 mobile update helps you share feedback on specific draft screens; review the mobile design on your phone and test the built website before launch.

Figma's mobile update: review the draft on your own phone

A 27-inch monitor gives a website plenty of room to look lovely. Your customer might be reading it with one hand while carrying a gym bag in the other.

I love a generous photograph. I still want you to see the introductory class price and the booking button without pinching the screen. Before you approve a new website design, ask for the mobile draft and open it on your own phone.

Figma made that review a little easier on September 30, 2026. Its mobile update adds links to the exact page or frame you're viewing, plus individual frame and image exports to your phone. A frame is the rectangle containing a draft screen, such as your mobile homepage. You can send feedback about that screen without making your designer hunt through the whole file. Figma's announcement lists the changes.

What changed in Figma's mobile app?

Designers use Figma to lay out pages before building them. You might receive a link to a file with several versions of your homepage, including ideas the designer has dropped. Ask which mobile frame you're reviewing before you comment.

Figma already supported phone previews and comments. This update improves how you move between screens and share the one you mean. You can also export a frame to your phone, choosing its format and size, if you want to inspect a still image.

Ask your designer to name the frame something you can recognize, such as "Mobile homepage, October 5 review." Include that name when you send feedback. An exported image records the appearance at that moment; check the current draft link before giving final approval.

You need permission to open the file. Figma's mobile app guide says people with view access can review and comment on any team or plan. The mobile app doesn't let you edit Figma Design files. Your job during this review is to explain what you need the customer to see.

How should you review a mobile website draft?

Give yourself 10 minutes and one customer task. For an independent fitness studio in Westfield, use "find the beginner class and its price." Read the mobile design at its intended size, rather than squeezing the desktop layout into a tiny preview.

Picture a first-time visitor deciding whether to come in. A dramatic training photo might fill most of the opening screen. I would check whether the designer has given the beginner class name enough space beside it, and whether you can read the price without zooming. You can keep the atmosphere you love while making room for the information a newcomer needs.

For a dry cleaner in Franklin, try "check the last pickup time on Saturday." Look for the hours in the mobile draft. Then read the wording: a customer needs to know whether "Saturday, 9 to 1" describes the counter hours or a deadline for collecting an order.

You know those details better than your designer. Put that knowledge beside the part of the page that needs it. In the Figma app, you can long-press a spot on the canvas to add a comment.

"Make it pop" gives a designer plenty to guess at. Try "I couldn't find the beginner class price before reaching the membership plans. Can we put it beside the introductory class button?" For the cleaner, try "Please label this as Saturday pickup hours so customers don't assume we offer same-day cleaning."

Those comments give your designer a customer problem to solve and a location to start from.

Before you approve the design, find the thing your next customer came to do on the phone you use each day.

Can you approve the website from a Figma preview?

Approve the proposed appearance from the draft. Test the built website before you approve launch.

A designer can connect screens in a prototype so you can try a proposed journey. An exported image shows a still picture. Neither check proves that your booking service works in the finished website or that your developer has handled different phone widths.

Ask for a preview address of the built site. Open it in your phone's browser and follow the booking link. Kevin's phone website check gives you a way to test the finished page, including the contact form.

Keep going after you submit a test request. Read the confirmation and check that you understand what happens next. I wrote about designing the page after a booking because that small screen deserves attention during the review too.

If you're comparing website services, ask each studio to include a mobile design review and a check of the built site in the project scope. Agree on those moments before you sign, while you can still set aside time for them.

Open the next draft on the phone you carry to work. Leave your designer one comment about a detail your customers ask you about at the counter.
