The plain-English privacy bit.

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to make us stop.

Last updated May 7, 2026

We're Luminest, an Indianapolis studio that builds websites and custom software. We try to keep this site light on data collection. This page tells you exactly what we collect when you visit luminest.io and how to opt out of any of it.

Who we are

Luminest LLC, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. You can reach a real person at contact@luminest.io.

What we collect

1. Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to see roughly which posts get read, where visitors come from, and which pages perform poorly. This is bucketed, anonymous traffic data — not anything that ties back to you personally. If you reject analytics cookies (or never click anything in the banner), we don't load Google Analytics at all. You can change your mind anytime via Cookie settings in the footer.

2. Newsletter & email subscribers

If you subscribe to the Monday digest, we store your email address and a record of which channels you've consented to (newsletter, marketing, outreach). We use it only to send you what you asked for, and the unsubscribe link in every email works in one click — no "are you sure?" loops, no holding it hostage.

3. Booking form

When you book a call, we keep your name, email, phone (if you provide it), the meeting time, and any notes you wrote. This goes into our calendar so we can show up, and into our database so we can find your booking later if you reach out. We don't market to you off the back of a booking unless you separately opt into the newsletter.

4. Server logs

Like every website, our hosting provider (Firebase / Google Cloud) keeps short-term server logs that include IP addresses and request paths. These help us debug and block abuse. We don't analyze them for marketing purposes.

What we don't collect

  • We don't sell or rent your data. Ever.
  • We don't run third-party retargeting pixels (no Facebook Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight, no TikTok Pixel).
  • We don't fingerprint your browser or store anything in localStorage beyond your theme preference (light/dark) and your cookie-consent choice.

Cookies, specifically

We use two kinds of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary — for the cookie banner itself to remember your choice, and for theme preference. These are local to your browser and we don't read them from anywhere else.
  • Analytics — only set if you click "Accept" on the banner. Google Analytics drops a few cookies starting with _ga. They expire in 13 months. You can clear them in your browser at any time.

The banner uses Google's Consent Mode v2, which means even if you accept, anything advertising-related is set to denied by default. We're not in the ads business.

Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, & friends)

You can email contact@luminest.io any time and ask us to:

  • Show you everything we have on you (right to access).
  • Correct anything that's wrong (right to rectification).
  • Delete it all (right to erasure).
  • Stop using it (right to object / restrict processing).
  • Send it to you in a portable format (right to portability).

We'll respond within 30 days. We won't make you fill out a form or jump through hoops — just say what you want.

Email subscriptions

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link in the footer. You can also visit your subscription preferences directly if you have your token (we email it to you when you subscribe). Unsubscribing from one channel (say, marketing) leaves the others intact unless you click "Unsubscribe me from everything," which we'll honor instantly.

Children

Our services aren't directed at people under 16. If you think a child has signed up to anything by mistake, email us and we'll remove them.

Changes to this page

If we ever start collecting more data (we won't go wild), we'll update this page and date-stamp it. The "Last updated" line at the top of this page is the source of truth. Material changes also show up in the next newsletter.

Contact

Anything unclear, anything you want done, anything we got wrong — contact@luminest.io. Kevin reads every email.
